This document is a brief introduction to the British actor, and star, Michael Caine. The main source for this information was Halliwell's Filmgoers Companion, 9th Edition, Grafton Books, 1988.
What exactly is an actor? A star? This is what it says in my Longman Top Pocket English Dictionary:
n person who acts in a play or film.
famous performer
The following sections will look at various aspects of Caine's career:
Caine's real name is Maurice Micklewhite (not many people know that), and he was born in 1933.
British light leading man with effective mild manner and deliberately unconcealed cockney origin. Played for years in second features before his international appeal was discovered.
Caine has appeared in dozens of movies. I'm only going to list my favourites, separated by decades.
Each entry contains the movie's name, the year it was released, and my very own rating (1 means bomb; 5 is classic).

"I'll always be there because I'm a skilled professional actor. Whether or not I've any talent is beside the point."
"John Wayne once advised me, talk low, talk slow and don't talk too much. And then I went and made Sleuth."
"I'm a sort of boy next door. If that boy has a good scriptwriter."
